Little Tern Warden Vacancies

Two vacancies have arisen for the rewarding and potentially career developing positions of Seasonal Head Little Tern Warden and Assistant Little Tern Warden at Beacon Lagoons Nature Reserve, East Yorkshire.

02 January 2023

The reserve is located at the base of the Spurn peninsula and has been the site of a Little Tern colony for many years. An enhanced protection scheme has been in place since 2011 and in a number of recent years the colony has been one of the most sucessful in the north of England.

Both vacancies offer a superb opportunity for an individual seeking a career in conservation to develop their skills and make a real difference to the conservation of one of our most threatened birds. The positions are suitable for someone with practical conservation experience, species protection experience, good communication skills and a basic knowledge of birds and monitoring. Experience of data recording and manipulation will be an advantage. Some night-time wardening will be necessary.

The contract will run from 1st May until late August (Head Warden) and 1st June until late August (Assistant Warden) and pay will be at the going minimum rate.

Accommodation is available at Spurn Bird Observatory for a small fee. Applications need to be received by 12pm on Friday 3rd February 2023. For further information and to submit CVs please contact Rob or Richard on 01964 650479 or info@spurnbirdobservatory.co.uk
