9 Oystercatcher, 1 Swallow, 40 Meadow Pipit + 7 NW, 6 alba Wagtail, 12 Rook, 60 Starling, 2 Chaffinch, 2 Greenfinch, 53 Linnet, 1 Reed Bunting and 1 Corn Bunting. |

Grounded migrants included the ‘continental type Stonechat’, 2 Wheatear, a Blackcap 2 Redwing, 7 Chiffchaff, a Firecrest
trapped and ringed at Kew and a Lesser Redpoll.
Other birds of note included 4 Gadwall, 1 Goldeneye, a male Hen Harrier, 1 Merlin and 2 Barn Owls.

A misty, grey and almost still start, rain showers on and off from mid-morning sometimes heavy, a light SE wind picking up to quite fresh in the afternoon. |

The only migration today was 6 Meadow Pipit, 1 Rock Pipit, 30 Starling, 1 Siskin and 2 Linnet all south. |

Grounded migrants included the first Willow Warbler of the year and the first Blackcap of the spring, a Woodcock was at the Point and other migrants included a
Great Spotted Woodpecker, a ‘continental type’ Stonechat at Sheep Field, 1 Wheatear, 2 Fieldfare, 3 Song Thrush, 2 Redwing, 7 Chiffchaff and a
Lesser Redpoll. |

| |
Migration watch 07.00 – 08.30. Still to start with a cold freshening SE wind picking up through the day, cloudy with rain from early afternoon. |

A quiet day, a singing Firecrest was seen on Beacon Lane, otherwise the only migrants seen were a Water Rail in the Churchyard,
a Great Spotted Woodpecker and 2 Chiffchaff.
Passage was also on the slack side, 120 Pink-footed Geese went NW, while going south were 2 Skylark, 22 Meadow Pipit, 1 Rock Pipit, 5 alba Wagtail, 60 Starling,
12 Chaffinch, 7 Greenfinch, 5 Goldfinch, 26 Linnet and a Reed Bunting.

7 Curlew +1 out east, 224 Black-headed Gull, 5 Stock Dove, 4 Skylark, 2 Sand Martin, 1 Grey Wagtail, 20 alba Wagtail, 63 Meadow Pipit + 10 in, 1 Rock Pipit,
4 Jackdaw, 17 Rook, 1610 Starling, 12 Chaffinch, 8 Greenfinch, 2 Goldfinch, 123 Linnet, 3 Reed Bunting and 3 Corn Bunting.
The only grounded migrants seen were 1 Wheatear and 2 Chiffchaff.

Another good day for passage which included a spring day record for alba Wagtails, more variety in species but very few Chaffinches. All birds south unless stated:
25 Whooper Swan flew north and returned south down the sea, 1 Greylag Goose, 12 Brent Geese out east, 18 Wigeon, 8 Eider, 16 Red-throated Diver, 1 Marsh Harrier,
5 Sparrowhawk, 5 Curlew out east, 316 Black-headed Gull, 30 Herring Gull, 3 Stock Dove, 3 Skylark, the first Swallow of the year, 1 Grey Wagtail, 57 alba Wagtail,
95 Meadow Pipit + 11 in, 3 Rock Pipit, 7 Jackdaw, 45 Rook, 3 Carrion Crow, 1200 Starling, 13 Chaffinch, 1 Brambling, 28 Greenfinch, 21 Goldfinch, 154 Linnet,
7 Reed Bunting and 1 Corn Bunting. |

The Firecrest was still at the Warren, while other migrants included 1 Rock Pipit, a Continental Stonechat at
Wire Dump, the Black Redstart at Sandy Beaches, 2 Wheatear, 2 Fieldfare, 7 Redwing, 5 Chiffchaff, 1 Goldcrest, a Coal Tit at the Warren flew north and was caught and
ringed at Kew, 3 Siskin and 2 Yellowhammer. |

were seen on and off all day and 3 Barn Owls were in the Triangle. |

Just 1 Firecrest was seen at the Warren, but other migrants kept low in the windy conditions and included 1 Fieldfare, 2 Redwing, a Black Redstart at Sandy
Beaches, 11 Chiffchaff, 3 Goldcrest and Corn Bunting. |

A better day for passage included 5 Curlew out east, moving south were 2 Stock Dove, 1 Grey Wagtail, 14 alba Wagtail, 43 Meadow Pipit + 18 in, 21 Jackdaw,

A total of 4 Firecrests were seen during the day: 1 at the Point, 2 at the Warren and one singing in Middle Hedge, a Black Redstart
was also at the Point, while other migrant totals included 1 Woodcock, 15 Meadow Pipit, 5 Wheatear, 3 Fieldfare, 12 Redwing, 8 Chiffchaff, 3 Goldcrest, 5000 Starling
and 6 Chaffinch. |

Migration watch 06.25 – 09.25. Overcast and murky all morning with some rain early on, a fresh SE wind, a little brighter in the afternoon. |

The Firecrest was still at the Warren, Chiffchaffs increased during the day to 8, and 3 Wheatear were at the Point. Other
migrants included 21 Meadow Pipit, 1 Fieldfare, 2 Redwing, and 5500 Starling. |

Passage was almost non-existent although a smattering of ducks passed through 6 Shelduck, 2 Shoveler, 2 Tufted Duck, 2 Eider and 2 Goosander.
The passerines moving were 3 alba Wagtail, 7 Meadow Pipit, 9 Chaffinch and 14 Linnet. |

| |
Migration watch 06.20 – 10.40. A bright sunny morning with some high wispy clouds, heavy clouds appearing when the wind veered from SSW to SE and picking
up to a force 3. |

The first Firecrests of the year arrived today, 1 at the Warren and 1 at Kew Villa, other migrants included a Woodcock,
2 Stonechat, 2 Wheatear (+4 at Sammy’s Point) and 2 Chiffchaff with another at Sammy’s Point. |
| |
Passage was on a smaller scale than yesterday, not surprising with the ‘nice’ conditions: 9 Common Scoter, 1 Stock Dove, 3 Skylark,
24 Meadow Pipit+ 2 in, 21 alba Wagtail, 1 White Wagtail, 10 Rook, 1735 Starling, 23 Chaffinch, 21 Greenfinch, 12 Goldfinch, 93 Linnet, 1 Siskin, 2 Reed Bunting and
1 Corn Bunting. |

Migration watch 07.00 – 12.00. A bright and sunny morning with variable light cloud in the afternoon and a light W-WSW wind. |

The highlight of the day was a Red Kite which came in off the sea and flew south at 07.20, the first Wheatear of the year was seen
at Easington boatyard and a Chiffchaff was at Chalk Bank. Passage was quite varied with quite a few birds coming in off the sea and carrying on NW and others moving
south. |

Migration watch 08.30 – 11.00. Rain for the first hour, then dry until mid-day with showers all afternoon some heavy, a force 2-3 SW wind. |

Additions to the year list today were Shoveler (3 south), Kingfisher on Canal Scrape and Goldcrest at Wire Dump. The Glaucous Gull
was blogging around again, there was an increase in thrushes, with 7 Fieldfare, 70 Redwing and 44 Blackbird. |

Passage was very light and not surprising with rain storms all round: 8 Wigeon, 3 Teal, 2 Grey Heron, 3 Stock Dove, 3 Meadow Pipit + 4in, 3 alba Wagtail,
1 Jackdaw, 9 Rook, 5 Carrion Crow, 1120 Starling + 15 in, 12 Chaffinch, 16 Linnet and a Yellowhammer.

A heavy overnight frost making it colder than previous days and remaining cloudy with a light SE wind highlights today were a Grey-lag Goose S, 3 Gadwall and
2 Teal (Canal Scrape), 5 Eider S, the Goldeneye, 59 Red-throated Diver (53 N), a Great Crested Grebe N, an adult Med Gull S, a Barn Owl, 7 Sky Lark (4 S),
a Rock Pipit N, 9 Stonechat (4 Triangle), 9 Redwing (Church Field), a Mistle Thrush (Kew), 198 Starling (48 S), a Linnet S, 2 Snow Bunting (Point) and a Yellowhammer
(Church Field). Whilst north of Sammie’s there were 460 Brent Geese, 36 pale-bellied birds and the Black Brant. |

(1 S, 3 in), a Rock Pipit S, 10 Song Thrush, 4 Redwing (Church Field), a Mistle Thrush blogging, a Jackdaw u-turned, 119 Starling S plus 225 (Triangle), 7 Chaffinch
(1 S), 6 Goldfinch (1 S), 2 Linnet (1 S) and a Yellowhammer (Church Field). |

150 Wigeon on the Humber, 2 Teal (Canal Scrape), 2 Tufted Duck (Borrow Pit), the 1st returning Little Grebe (Canal Scrape), 73 Lapwing S, 26 Sky Lark S plus 2 in
and 9 (Triangle), a Rock Pipit, the Black Redstart (Blue Bell area), 7 Stonechat (5 Triangle), a Fieldfare (New Road), 6 Redwing,
a Mistle Thrush blogging, 4 Jackdaw u-turned, a Bullfinch (Church Field), 2 Yellowhammer (Church Field) with the best of the day being a Water Pipit
that flew S early morning and could not be relocated. |
