Another quiet day with more activity over the sea than anywhere else, although a little passage in the strong NW winds early morning. The winds died off by

At sea were 2 Red-throated Diver, 1 Great Crested Grebe, 3 Fulmar, 1 Sooty Shearwater, 2 Manx Shearwater, 90 Gannet, 30 Arctic Skua, 3 Bonxie, 21 Little Gull,
40 Sandwich Tern, 3236 Common Tern, 26 Arctic Tern, 1 Roseate Tern, 2 Black Tern, 13 Auk sp., 5 Guillemot. Birds on the move south included; 4 Wigeon, 5 Teal,
12 Common Scoter, 14 Oystercatcher, 1 Ringed Plover, 2 Ruff, 19 Whimbrel, 1 Swift, 6 Sand Martin, 88 Swallow, 66 House Martin, 2 flava Wagtail.

A warm and generally sunny day, starting off NW 4 when a few birds were on the move, the wind dropped to 0 by midday and just a light onshore breeze in the
afternoon.
Narrows watch 06.30 – 10.00, Sea watch from 18.25 – 19.25.

The only birds at sea were 11 Gannet, 5 Arctic Skua, 2 Mediterranean Gull, 33 Sandwich Tern, 200 Common Tern, and 6 Guillemot.
Birds moving south were 2 Grey Heron, 2 Wigeon, 2 Common Scoter, 1 Marsh Harrier, 1 Merlin, 2 Oystercatcher, 17 Sand Martin, 256 Swallow, 42 House Martin,
5 Meadow Pipit, 2 Grey Wagtail, 6 alba Wagtail.

| |
A quiet day for the time of year, the light wind swung from NW – ENE and with long sunny spells. |

Short sea-watches during the day produced just 2 Red-throated Diver, 2 Fulmar, 60 Gannet, 11 Arctic Skua, 1 Mediterranean Gull, 1 Little Gull,
243 Common Tern.
The only birds moving were 2 Wigeon in, 28 Teal south and 12 north, 4 Marsh Harrier, 4 Oystercatcher, 30 Swallow and 1 Meadow Pipit.

| |
Best activity today was over the sea and the odd migrant turned up later in the afternoon, despite the wind being in the eastern quarter all day, heavy clouds
at times didn’t produce any rain. |

Narrows watch from 06.30 – 09.00, sea watches 06.30 – 09.00 and 16.50 – 18.35.
Birds seen over the sea were 6 Red-throated Diver, 3 Fulmar, 29 Sooty Shearwater, 4 Manx Shearwater, 150 Gannet, 8 Wigeon, 52 Teal, 8 Eider, 24 Common Scoter,
1 Velvet Scoter, 65 Oystercatcher, 7 Sanderling, 9 Whimbrel, 1 adult Pomarine Skua north in the morning, 32 Arctic Skua, 1 Bonxie, 5 Little Gull, 90 Kittiwake,
1115 Common Tern north in the morning, 1 Black Tern, 3 Guillemot, 1 Puffin and a Black Guillemot flew south and landed distantly at sea.

Vis-Mig watches 06.45 – 11.00, 17.00 – 20.00.
Bright and sunny for most of the day with light variable winds.
There were a few more birds at sea and some light passage but fewer grounded migrants around.

At sea were 3 Red-throated Diver, 2 Fulmar, 1 Balearic Shearwater north, 19 Sooty Shearwater, 267 Gannet, 1 Shag,2 Bonxie, 3 Mediterranean Gull,
246 Little Gull, 70 Kittiwake, 4000 Common Tern flew north in the morning, 3 Black Tern, 10 Guillemot and 1 Puffin. |

Birds on the move south were; 1 Little Egret, 2 Mallard, 4 Eider north, 2 Common Scoter, a Red Kite eventually left south after lingering between
Kilnsea and Easington and was the first of the year, 2 Marsh Harrier, 2 Kestrel, 13 Oystercatcher, 4 Sanderling, 25 Common Snipe, 1 Black-tailed Godwit,
34 Sand Martin, 430 Swallow including a leucistic one, 7 House Martin, 9 Meadow Pipit, 14 flava Wagtail, 2 Rook. Other birds of interest were 1 Brent Goose,
5 Wigeon, 1100 Golden Plover, 1 Ruff, 2 Greenshank, 1 Great Spotted Woodpecker, 1 Tree Pipit, 2 Whinchat, 1 Wheatear, 8 Lesser Whitethroat, 5 Garden Warbler,
2 Blackcap, 1 Willow Warbler, 1 Goldcrest and 1 Spotted Flycatcher.
On the insect front, both Small Red-eyed Damselfly and Ruddy Darter were seen along the Canal.

A good day for raptors, a decent sprinkling of common migrants and the first good passage of hirundines.

A day that brightened up with a swinging wind from north to south-east with birds on the whole quiet with just the odd movement and new arrival. |

Of note today were 16 Cormorant (Chalk Bank), 6 Teal (Canal), a Marsh Harrier S, 12,000 Knot, 17 Snipe, a Black-tailed Godwit (Humber), 10 Whimbrel,
4 Greenshank, a Green Sandpiper and 2 Common Sandpiper (Canal Scrape), 10 Little Gull, a Tree Pipit S, 6 Flava Wagtail S and 7 (Triangle), a Grey Wagtail S,
3 Redstart, 11 Whinchat, 5 Wheatear, 10 Reed Warbler, 2 Garden Warbler, 28 Willow Warbler, 3 Pied Flycatcher, a Red-backed Shrike turned up late on at the
Warren and 21 Goldfinch. |

With the wind still producing strong northerlies surprising little at sea with a Red-throated Diver, 85 Gannet, 4 Common Scoter N, 25 Oystercatcher S,

On land conditions were poor with 3 Whinchat, 2 Wheatear, 2 Garden Warbler, 15 Willow Warbler, single Spotted and Pied Flycatcher being note worthy. |

On Long Bank a Curlew Sandpiper, 18 Ruff, a Black-tailed Godwit and a Wood Sandpiper were seen. |

87 Oystercatcher S, 24 Little Gull N, 67 Kittiwake, elsewhere of note was a Wigeon in, a Peregrine chasing Terns over the sea, 27 Snipe, a Cuckoo (Potato Fields),
6 Whinchat, 3 Wheatear, 2 Redstart, a Grasshopper Warbler, 7 Lesser Whitethroat, 6 Garden Warbler, 12 Willow Warbler, 1 Spotted Flycatcher (Warren) and

Another autumnal day with blustery northerly winds and mist or drizzle throughout a small arrival of birds today with the highlight being a Wryneck but very
little at sea. |

New in were a very flighty Wryneck at the Point, 4 Redstart, 7 Whinchat (4 New Scrape), a Wheatear, 3 Grasshopper Warbler (2 Warren, 1 New Scrape),
6 Garden Warbler, 23 Willow Warbler and 3 Pied Flycatcher. Elsewhere of note were 8 Manx Shearwater N, 23 Teal (22 S), 65 Common Scoter N, a Marsh Harrier u-turned
over the Triangle, a Merlin, 425 Oystercatcher S, 17 Snipe S plus 7 in the Triangle, 10 Whimbrel, 3 Greenshank, a Green Sandpiper (Canal Scrape), 8 Little Gull N and
2 Little Tern N. |

A day that resembled November instead of August after a bright start leaden skies and a brisk cold northerly wind blew with drizzle later on, a few birds
at sea including a few 1st for the year and just the odd new migrant in. |

At sea a Red-throated Diver N, a Slavonian Grebe on the sea with 2 Great-crested Grebes, 5 Fulmar, 5 Sooty Shearwater N, 27 Manx Shearwater N, 2 Wigeon S,
69 Teal S plus 46 N, 57 Common Scoter, 69 Oystercatcher S, 24 Snipe S, an adult Pomarine Skua S, 24 Arctic Skua (22 S), 1 Long-tailed Skua S, 1 Bonxie S,
4 Little Gull N, an adult Yellow-legged Gull, 3 Black Tern (2 N, 1 S) and a few Auk’s. |

in the evening roost count. |

Birds of note elsewhere included a Little Egret (Humber), a Marsh Harrier u-turned, a Ruff on Walker Butts, a Spotted Redshank (Chalk Bank), single Green and
Common Sandpiper, a Swift 16 Sand Martin, 35 Swallow S, 2 Tree Pipit (Warren/Church Field), 14 Flava Wagtail (3 S), 2 Wheatear (New Road), 13 Willow Warbler and a
Spotted Flycatcher at Kew. At the Point a Pin-tailed Whydah! was being mobbed by the local tit flock. The only moth of note was a Convolvulus Hawkmoth in the Point
trap. |

Sunny spells on and of today with a stiff westerly wind, a good tern passage late in the evening with the highlight being a cracking adult SABINES GULL at
20.00, whilst tern numbers included 89 Sandwich, 3 Roseate (all adults), 8240 Common Tern, 22 Arctic and only 1 Black Tern. |

Other birds of note were few and far between with a light southerly passage of 12 Oystercatcher, 16 Ringed plover, 98 Knot, 9 Dunlin, 16 Redshank,

1 Bar-tailed Godwit, 13 Turnstone, 2 Swift, 42 House Martin, and 8 Flava Wagtail. |

50 Dunlin, 3 Bar-tailed Godwit, 1 Whimbrel, 67 Redshank,19 Turnstone, 29 Arctic Skua, 3 Little Gull, 105 Swift. |

Whilst the late evening tern passage consisted of 71 Sandwich Tern, an adult Roseate Tern, 10.270 Common Tern, 72 Arctic Tern, 2 Little Tern and 4 Black Tern,
elsewhere notable sightings were 10 Snipe (Triangle), a Black-tailed Godwit (Humber), 2 Greenshank, 2 Green Sandpiper, 5 Turtle Dove, a Wheatear (Narrows),
2 Willow Warbler and a Spotted Flycatcher at the Crown along with a Southern Hawker dragonfly. |

A mainly cloudy day with regular sunny spells in a breezy W wind calming down late on, a few birds on the move with a good tern passage in the evening. |

On the move S were a Little Egret, 1 Marsh Harrier, 21 Oystercatcher, 44 Knot, 27 Sanderling, 12 Dunlin, 2 Ruff came in, 5 Black-tailed Godwit,
4 Bar-tailed Godwit, 33 Whimbrel, 5 Redshank, 12 Turnstone, 2 Collared Dove, 2 Swift, 61 Sand Martin, 1 Flava Wagtail. At sea birds of note included 2 Fulmar N,
4 Manx Shearwater S, 2 Eider, 4 Arctic Skua, 3 Little Gull S, 674 Sandwich Tern, 2 Roseate Tern and adult and a juvenile, 10.500 Common Tern, 104 Arctic Tern,
7 Black Tern all going to roost and a few Auk’s on the sea. |

In the moth traps today was a Vine Moth was the 3rd for Spurn and Yorkshire and new for Spurn was Argyresthia goedartella.

Another quiet day, with just a few new migrants in on a beautiful sunny day with a light onshore breeze. |

Birds of note were; 20 Gannet, 3 Little Egret (2 flew out south-east), 5 Teal, 1 Eider, 8 Common Scoter, 1 Merlin, 1 Peregrine, 17 Whimbrel south,
1 Greenshank on the Humber, 6 Arctic Skua N, 1 Bonxie N, 1 Roseate Tern S, 3 Cuckoo, 1 Great Spotted Woodpecker, 1 Tree Pipit, 4 flava Wagtail, a Garden Warbler and
6 Willow Warblers. |

Another quiet day in bright, sunny conditions in light northerly winds. |

Over the sea were; 79 Gannet, 8 Shelduck, 4 Eider, 122 Common Scoter, 20 Kittiwake, 2 adult Roseate Terns blogging around midday, 3 Arctic Tern and
2 Little Tern. |

Other birds of note were; 2 Hobby, 1 Peregrine, 289 Oystercatchers south, 900 Golden Plover, 37 Whimbrel, 1 Greenshank, 1 Green Sandpiper, 5 Turtle Dove,
1 Cuckoo, 1 Swift, 1 Great Spotted Woodpecker, 1 juv Wheatear, 16 Willow Warbler and 45+ Tree Sparrow.
In the moth trap were a Convulvulus Hawk-moth and a Pearly Underwing. |

A nice day with lots of sunshine but a coolish north wind all day, although it didn’t produce many seabirds. |

Over the sea were 2 Great Crested Grebe, 1 Sooty Shearwater, 2 Manx Shearwater, 24 Gannet, 32 Common Scoter, 4 Arctic Skua, 134 Little Gull, 27 Kittiwake,
1 Arctic Tern, 500 Common Tern, 2 Auk sp. |

Other birds of note were a Hobby which took a Dunlin off the Humber, 300 Sanderling, 1 Black-tailed Godwit, 10 Whimbrel, 1 Greenshank, 1 Green Sandpiper,
a Great Spotted Woodpecker, an adult Wheatear and 13 Willow Warblers. |

The annual Friends BBQ last night carried on well into the early hours leaving a lot of sore heads over £400 was raised for the Obs, so a big thank you to
all those that came along and had a thoroughly good time. |

Some light passage south today with a Grey Heron, 27 Teal plus 16 N, 1 Tufted Duck, an Eider N, 21 Common Scoter plus 30 N, 32 Oystercatcher, 30 Knot,
8 Sanderling, 2 Dunlin, 3 Snipe came in, 36 Whimbrel, 1 Curlew, 3 Turnstone, 46 Swift. Elsewhere of note were 140 Common Scoter on the sea, 329 Sanderling
(Chalk Bank), 5 Arctic Skua S, a Roseate Tern S, 3620 Common Tern S, a Black Tern S, 2 Turtle Dove, a Cuckoo, 73 Sand Martin (Triangle), a Tree Pipit N and
1000 Starling roosting at the Crown. |

The most interesting finds today were dragonflies with 3 Emperor going south, 3 Banded Demoiselle (1 Blue Bell, 2 Canal Zone), and
4+ Small red-eyed Damselflies along the Canal with a pair ovipositing this represents the 1st record for Spurn of this rapidly colonising species. |

Another quiet day in hot and sunny conditions with a light SW wind. Some light passage and a few more terns moving in the evening roost movement. |

At sea were 2 Manx Shearwater, 19 Gannet, 4 Arctic Skua, 6 Kittiwake, 1 Roseate Tern, 1800 Common Tern, 11 Arctic Tern. While birds
moving south included; 2 Grey Heron, 3 Little Egret, 9 Common Scoter, 2 Marsh Harrier, 43 Oystercatcher, 2 Golden Plover, 9 Knot, 4 Sanderling, 17 Dunlin,
20 Common Snipe, 35 Whimbrel, 6 Curlew, 2 Redshank, 4 Turntstone, 150 Swift, 64 Sand Martin, 19 House Martin, 3 flava Wagtail and 1 Grey Wagtail. |

Narrows watch – 05.00 – 08.30.
A bright and sunny morning clouding over in the afternoon and the light variable wind got a few birds moving south or out.

Birds moving south included; 35 Oystercatcher, 4 Sanderling, 9 Dunlin + 20 out, 2 Common Snipe +15 in, 4 Curlew in, 24 Redshank, 1 Turtle Dove, 88 Swift,
41 Sand Martin, 3 flava Wagtail, alba Wagtail, while the highlight of the day was 2 Spoonbills which U-turned back north over the Triangle at 11.45. |

A similar day to yesterday warm and sunny with light winds a few more birds around but nothing exciting except on the insect front with a couple of goodies. |

Bird highlights were 54 Common Scoter (42 out), 8 Oystercatcher S, 9 Sanderling S plus 215 (peninsula), 6000 Dunlin plus 2 S, 4 Snipe, 6 Whimbrel,
4 Arctic Skua blogging, 2 Turtle Dove (Chalk Bank), 7 Swift S, 220 Swallow, 6 Flava Wagtail (2 S), a Sedge Warbler (Warren), 4 Willow Warbler and around
180 Linnet roosting at the Warren. |

On the insect front a Red-veined Darter was on Clubley’s and the 4th record of Banded Demoiselle was recorded with one fluttering around the Warren,
whilst new for Spurn and the 4th for Yorkshire was Palpita vitrealis and a local rarity was recorded in the form of Gymnacyla canella. |

A quiet day on the whole although it was rather sunny most of the day in lights winds. |

Of note today were a Golden Plover in, 4 Snipe in, 9 Whimbrel in and 3 on the Humber, a Peregrine over the Humber, 9 Little Gull, single Turtle Dove and
Cuckoo, 7 Swift S, 200 Swallow (40 S), 2 Flava Wagtail S, 4 Yellow Wagtail, a Wheatear (Tank Blocks), and 2 Willow Warbler. |
