How many Pacific Swifts?

28 June 2013

Although the Pacific Swift has now been overshadowed a little by last weeks Needletail on Harris it still remains an incredibly rare bird and very sought after, particularly by Yorkshire listers. It seems incredible then that Spurn birder Steve Exley has now seen four, that’s right FOUR. He’s seen the last three at Spurn and was quick enough off the mark to connect with the Cley bird in 1993. We also wonder how many have been in Europe this year, with records from Denmark and Spain as well as birds in Yorks, Lincs and Suffolk could there be more than one?
