BIRDS OF THE SPURN AREA: A NEW BOOK

Some people will be aware that Andy Roadhouse has been working on a new book of the birds of Spurn for the last few seven years. This will be a definitive work on the Spurn area, covering the whole area to include Easington and all records found published since about 1850. We are hoping to have the book published in March 2016

Subalpine Warblers at Spurn

Many of you will be aware that the taxonomy of Subalpine Warbler has been revised with 3 species (Eastern, Western and Moltoni’s) now recognised as occurring in Britain. Spurn is one of the best sites in the country for them with nearly 30 records and we want to try and identify as many as possible to species.

The Observatory urgently needs the help of the birding community, please read this and help us by objecting to this development

Sandy beaches caravan site have put in an application to “move” the existing caravan site westwards due to coastal erosion. The new plans show the clubhouse and a number of caravans sited immediately adjacent to our church field, an area we have invested over £50,000 in the last year to improve habitat for wildlife.
